THE 3 REQUEST CATEGORIES
Force clients to categorize every song into one of these three buckets — no exceptions.
Must Play
Limit: 15–20 tracks
Songs that MUST be played — no exceptions. These go in your set no matter what. Keep this list tight so you still have room to read the crowd and respond to the energy in the room.

- •Grand entrance song
- •Father-daughter dance
- •Last song of the night
- •Client's absolute favorites
⚠ Cap this at 20 tracks maximum. More than that and you lose the ability to read the room.
Play If Possible
Unlimited — your judgment call
Background music, cocktail hour vibes, or secondary favorites. You'll play these if the energy fits and you have time. No pressure — these are suggestions, not requirements.

Do Not Play
The most important list
This is the most critical list. A single wrong song can ruin the vibe or offend guests. Get this list filled out completely before every event — no exceptions.
- •No line dances (Cha Cha Slide, Electric Slide)
- •No explicit versions
- •Specific artists they dislike
- •Songs tied to bad memories
- •Genre restrictions (no country, no rap, etc.)
⚠ Always confirm this list in your pre-event call. A "Do Not Play" violation is the #1 complaint DJs receive.
ROUTE 1: FREE — GOOGLE FORMS
Zero cost. Takes 15 minutes to set up. Works perfectly for most bookings.
Create a Google Form
Go to forms.google.com and create a new form titled "[Event Name] Music Request Form — DJ Wildman."
Add 3 Sections
Section 1: Must Play (paragraph field, 15–20 songs max). Section 2: Play If Possible (paragraph field). Section 3: Do Not Play (paragraph field + checkbox for common restrictions).
Add Event Details Fields
Add fields for: Event date, venue name, event type, grand entrance song, first dance song (if wedding), last song request.
Link in Square Confirmation Email
In your Square booking confirmation email template, add: "Click here to submit your music requests: [GOOGLE FORM LINK]"
Export Responses
Before each event, open the Google Form → Responses → View in Sheets. Print or save to your phone for reference during the gig.
